A Little Knitting Going On!

I'm completely flattered that my husband asked me if I could make something for a man at work whose wife who is having a baby. I even had some baby yarn in the stash!!!

Made this small blanket and hat, from Natural Knits for Babies and Moms by Louisa Harding.
Then casted on a pair of socks for Faith. So far she hasn't asked what I'm knitting or who it is for. Hoping I can get them made and put them away for Christmas for her.
I'm hoping I can do more knitting for the kids and gift it to them for Christmas. Is that corny? Or old fashioned? Well... even if it is... I am corny and old fashioned so it doesn't matter... does it?

Ready for Colder Weather

As I look back at all the knitting/crocheting I've done for the summer, I'm quite impressed with my efforts. Not only have I gifted a few items I've also added to my wardrobe for the coming winter! 2 new sweaters: Olivine and Summer's End and 3 pairs of socks: a basic ribbed pair and Embossed Leaves

Then here are the most recent finished pair. Hedera by Cookie A.
I RARELY buy myself any clothing! I'm not much of a shopper and would rather get my kids clothes than myself when the mood finally strikes. So I'm feeling really good about my accomplishments and am ready for the weather to turn colder!

Decisions, decisions, decisions! And no answers!

Typically when I'm nearing the end of a knitting project I have 5 ideas in my head for what is next. This time however, I'm at a bit of a loss! I know it is crazy!!

Do I want to make Faith a dress for summer?
This is a great pattern that I've made 3 times now, but.... nah! this one still fits well.

Do I want to make another felted bag?
I don't think so. There isn't a need yet for another felted bag.

My brother Bill will be turning 50 in May 2011. I could go ahead and knit him a sweater for that and give it to him early so he can get plenty of use from it through this coming winter.
Still plenty of time to do that, no need to start now! Plus I need to buy yarn to make it and I really should be using stash!

Well I could just focus on finishing the pair of socks I'm working on.
That won't work! They are more than 75% finished too!

Great! Now I've realized I also need to figure out what socks I'm casting on next!

Ugh! Any ideas? Anyone?

On the Needles

Wanted to show you what I have on my knitting needles now:
Made with Louet Riverstone in Hunter Green. (Sorry Mike decided the color would look better on me!)
Hope that will turn into this:
Some basic rib socks:
Falling crazy in love with this Nichole yarn. Started a pair of socks with a pattern, but frogged them because the pattern was lost in the wonderful colorway of the yarn.

Quick Update

Faith's Health
Faith is feeling better. Her body aches are gone, her belly aches are almost totally gone, and she is nearly totally herself. We are continuing to hydrate her and keep her on a high fiber diet.

There seems to be another symptom that has appeared, she wakes up dizzy and complains sometimes during the day that she feels dizzy. In fact yesterday, while standing there watching her father dig a hole, she fell over on to her face. She said she felt dizzy right before. Crazy!!

Mike and I are thinking she may have something going on with her inner ear. A residual effect from the virus she had a few weeks ago. However, we can't know for sure. We no longer have any confidence in the doctor we were using so, we are in the process of switching to a new doctor for the kids. Then we will get her an appointment there and see if we can get some definite answers.

Knitting
My awesome husband recently won a $40 gift card. He handed it to me and said, "Thought you may want to buy some yarn with this." I ask, is he not the best?

Put a call immediately in to my favorite yarn shop on earth Woolworks, Ltd. Jen, the store owner, asked, "Gee Michelle are there any books you've been wanting?" Oh my gosh, great idea!! Yeah!!

Then to go with it she suggested a new sock yarn she carries from a local vendor. Can't wait to try it!

One Sock, Two Socks...

Finished a pair of socks for my mother-in-law this week, and with plenty of time to spare for a Mother's Day gift. The pattern is Monkey by Cookie A. Fun and easy pattern to follow. They took me a little longer than usual, because I didn't feel up to knitting while I was sick last week. (That's how Mike knows I'm truly sick!!)

Casted on another pair of socks, cause you always have to have a pair of socks in the works. They are just a basic pair of socks, but the colors of this yarn is really cool. I told Mike I may need to buy a shirt to go with them and keep them for myself!

For Your 50th Birthday

(Joe or Susan if you have happened to log in to read this post, please turn around and leave, just this once. Don't want to ruin your birthday surprises.)

My brother and his wife both turn 50 next month, and I've knitted them each a little something. Well in advance of their birthday's I might add. This makes me quite proud and I hope they love them.

(that's my son modeling the sweater, he is too funny)

I made Susan another pair of socks, but knit those back in March, and the pictures are no longer on my computer. But, you get the idea.

Check out the Green!

It is a good thing we are getting a little rain today. See all that BEAUTIFUL green grass we have growing? It needs to stay watered!

With all the gorgeous grass growing, another pile of soil delivered to make more grass, I just couldn't resist a few strawberry plants and a couple of herbs too, when Mike sent me to the feed store the other day. Him and Haley set up this nice raised bed and planted them all in it.

Slowly but surely things are shaping up in the yard. It hasn't been easy with all the impromptu trips we've had to make out of town. I'm praying we can stay home for a while and get that honey-do list accomplished!
This last road trip did give me the opportunity to make the first in another pair of socks. More green!
