Ready for Colder Weather

As I look back at all the knitting/crocheting I've done for the summer, I'm quite impressed with my efforts. Not only have I gifted a few items I've also added to my wardrobe for the coming winter! 2 new sweaters: Olivine and Summer's End and 3 pairs of socks: a basic ribbed pair and Embossed Leaves

Then here are the most recent finished pair. Hedera by Cookie A.
I RARELY buy myself any clothing! I'm not much of a shopper and would rather get my kids clothes than myself when the mood finally strikes. So I'm feeling really good about my accomplishments and am ready for the weather to turn colder!

On the Needles

Wanted to show you what I have on my knitting needles now:
Made with Louet Riverstone in Hunter Green. (Sorry Mike decided the color would look better on me!)
Hope that will turn into this:
Some basic rib socks:
Falling crazy in love with this Nichole yarn. Started a pair of socks with a pattern, but frogged them because the pattern was lost in the wonderful colorway of the yarn.

Photos of Finished Knitting Projects

I'm sure I've mentioned the finished crocheted afghan I've made for my niece who is getting married in August, but had neglected photos, here it is:
Also another pair of socks have been put away in my sock drawer:

Have 2 more projects I'm knitting on that I will have to share soon... for now I have laundry to hang on the line and a family to care for, knitting will have to keep : (

A Knitter Prepares

I'll put pictures up of the (nearly) finished socks when they are done and the (nearly) finished afghan when it is complete. The socks I only have a toe to sew and the afghan I just need to finish the border.

So yesterday I spent time preparing for the next projects. I bought this pattern: (for me again!)
And wound this yarn to make it: Louet in Hunter Green
There always has to be a pair of socks in the making, because they travel so well, so I wound some Hand Painted Nichole, the color is Vanessa Bell. Still debating what pattern the socks will be, but isn't it poetic when this:
goes onto this:
and becomes this tidy little ball of this?
Oh the potential... It could bring a knitter to tears....

Quick Update

Faith's Health
Faith is feeling better. Her body aches are gone, her belly aches are almost totally gone, and she is nearly totally herself. We are continuing to hydrate her and keep her on a high fiber diet.

There seems to be another symptom that has appeared, she wakes up dizzy and complains sometimes during the day that she feels dizzy. In fact yesterday, while standing there watching her father dig a hole, she fell over on to her face. She said she felt dizzy right before. Crazy!!

Mike and I are thinking she may have something going on with her inner ear. A residual effect from the virus she had a few weeks ago. However, we can't know for sure. We no longer have any confidence in the doctor we were using so, we are in the process of switching to a new doctor for the kids. Then we will get her an appointment there and see if we can get some definite answers.

Knitting
My awesome husband recently won a $40 gift card. He handed it to me and said, "Thought you may want to buy some yarn with this." I ask, is he not the best?

Put a call immediately in to my favorite yarn shop on earth Woolworks, Ltd. Jen, the store owner, asked, "Gee Michelle are there any books you've been wanting?" Oh my gosh, great idea!! Yeah!!

Then to go with it she suggested a new sock yarn she carries from a local vendor. Can't wait to try it!

One Sock, Two Socks...

Finished a pair of socks for my mother-in-law this week, and with plenty of time to spare for a Mother's Day gift. The pattern is Monkey by Cookie A. Fun and easy pattern to follow. They took me a little longer than usual, because I didn't feel up to knitting while I was sick last week. (That's how Mike knows I'm truly sick!!)

Casted on another pair of socks, cause you always have to have a pair of socks in the works. They are just a basic pair of socks, but the colors of this yarn is really cool. I told Mike I may need to buy a shirt to go with them and keep them for myself!

Over My Head?

I have completely lost it! I'm spinning (pardon the pun) out of control with my knitting. I have always been a one project at a time kind of gal, with my knitting/crocheting. Rarely do I cast on/start a new project when I already have one going.

Here is an afghan I started a couple months ago:
It has become too large to take anywhere, and my knitting is always with me just in case, so I've been only working on it at home. Understandable.

If you can recall I had some beautiful sock yarn that I started to knit up into a pair of socks, and then decided to frog it. So, this beautiful sock yarn was sitting next to my bed waiting to become something and I just hadn't found the right thing to make it into. (You knitters out there know what I mean when you frog yarn it almost calls to you to be used because you've teased it into becoming something. WACKO for you non-knitters, I know!) Until yesterday! I found the most gorgeous pattern called the Woodland Shawl made out of sock yarn. Of course it had to be casted on, and here it is:
And because the shawl is a very intense pattern requiring a lot of attention it isn't suited to going on a road trip. Which is where I'm headed. Therefore, because a pair of socks makes the best traveling companion for a knitter I've casted this on:

Yes, you saw that wonderful sock yarn from yesterday's post.

Am I completely over my head? I actually don't feel overwhelmed. It is truly amazing. Better go knit...

Lushes Lovely Can't Get Enough

Remember last Sunday and all that good yarn I got on sale? Well it arrived here on Friday and here are some photos of what I got!

I realize to you non-knitters (poor things) out there that you can't really appreciate this stuff, but to you knitters out there isn't it just beautiful? Now it sits in my stash waiting to become something wonderful. Or possibly a lovely gift for one of you family members that may be reading this....hee hee hee!
This week my wonderful husband had to go into Dick's Sporting Goods to do some shopping. Well, Dick's happens to be right next door to Michael's. You know what that terrific guy did? He went into Michael's and bought me some yarn.

All the yarn needed to make a really cute gardening apron that he also found the directions to make. Isn't that cool? I'm always so afraid Mike will yell, "Enough Yarn Already!" then he goes out and buys me more.
Maybe I better check that Dick's receipt and see if there was something he bought that he needed to compensate me for? Hmmm... Nah, doesn't matter, gonna go do some more knitting I think!

Yippee, It Arrived Today!

My box of stuff from, Woolworks Yarn Shop in Putnam, CT arrived today.

Look at the beautiful sock yarn. Alpaca Sox in a gray heather, Ultra Alpaca Fine in a dark brown, Reynolds Soft Seawool in black, and the Araucania hand dyed wool in a great purple colorway.
All the Jil Eaton Minnow Merino yarn, in a precious periwinckle, I need to make that cute cardigan (Minnowknits Garter Cardi #168)for Faith and the perfectly matched buttons that Jen and Paula (my friend from the shop) chose.
The magnetic clasps, that only Jen has, to put on the surprises I made for my sisters and their daughters, oh and some gorgeous pewter buttons for the finishing touches on their gifts.
Better get knitting on mom's Christmas gift so I can delve into this stuff. PURE HEAVEN!
